A provincial campaign to get mental health and addictions on the election radar is gaining speed. Since the campaign’s launch on May 31, 2011, over 600 Ontarians have emailed provincial party leaders about mental health and addictions and over 80 organizations have joined the campaign’s network of supporters.
Recent campaign endorsers include the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Group, the Canadian Association of College and University Student Services and the Canadian Federation of University Women, Ontario Council.
The campaign is drawing both provincial and local attention, with media coverage in the Toronto Star and local newspapers. A number of local all-candidates’ debates have also included a focus on mental health and addictions.
With less than two weeks until election day, concerned Ontarians are encouraged to visit the Vote4MHA website to send a letter to party leaders and learn more about the issues.
