The United States Council of State Governments Justice Centre is hosting a webinar on mental health diversion for youth on May 10, 2012 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm (EST).
Diverting youth with mental health disorders, including those with co-occurring substance dependence, from the justice system can improve outcomes for both the youth and their family. This webinar will explore successful practices for directing youth to treatment and will examine innovative and collaborative programming that some jurisdictions in the United States have employed that have decreased the harmful effects of a youth’s on-going involvement with the justice system. Practices for diverting youth at various points along the continuum of contact with the justice system will be discussed. This webinar will be presented by Judge Linda Teodosio, the head of Ohio’s Summit County Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile Division.
